Phew! Mumford & Sons have told NME Magazine that they have already started working on new material after the recent launch of their second album “Babel”. The new album was only released in September of this year, and the band have promised not to wait years before a follow-up – good news for everyone!
One member of the band told NME “Will we wait years for the next album? Fuck, no. You heard it here first. We’ve just started working on new songs, got a rehearsal studio. They’re bones of songs, but really exciting bones. Sturdy bones.”
In 2012 the band hand picked countries for the “Gentlemen of the Road” tour, which was such a success, they have already set more dates for the tour in 2013. Currently, Mumford & Sons are on the second leg of their tour, “Tour of Two Halves”, which is promising to be an exciting set of shows around the UK and Ireland.
Mumford & Sons first album “Sigh No More” as released in 2009/2010, and was a slow grower in USA, yet managed to ultimately sell 2.5 million copies. In 2011 the first album won Album Of The Year at the BRIT Awards. Babel, however proved to be immediately captivating for the American audience as the band were nominated for six Grammy Awards this week. In my opinion this will always be Mumford & Sons best album – but I’m definitely looking forward to hearing what they have coming for us in the near future!
