MUA Pistachio Ice Cream

By Behindtheseclosedeyes @theseclosedeyes
I've always been a big fan of the simple design Essie use for their nail polish bottles, and when I saw that MUA had brought out a very close copy I had to have a proper look. It makes me wonder how they got away with it looking so similar but hey-ho, I ended up choosing the shade Pistachio Ice Cream for the very afforable price of £1. You can see in the first photo that there is a considerable size difference between the two bottles, but that's really the only difference that I can see.

Pistachio Ice Cream is a gorgeous mint green shade and one that immediately made me think of Essie's famous Mint Candy Apple, so I was straight into my drawer of nail polishes to compare the 2. Although it isn't an exact dupe of Mint Candy Apple, it's definitely close. I'd say Pistachio Ice Cream is more of a pastel mint green whereas Mint Candy Apple is a bit of a brighter mint, and I hope you can get an idea of the slight difference from the swatches on my nail wheel (pictured above). I'm even going to go as far as saying that I prefer the more pastel shade of Pistachio Ice Cream, I'm sorry Essie. I was so impressed with the formula of the MUA polish as application was a breeze and drying time was also impressive, especially as I chose to paint my nails right before bed. Silly me, I know. I was able to get an opaque color in 2 coats and there has been no sign of wear and tear during the past few days which is great for such a bargain buy. I can definitely see myself trying out a few more of the shades in the MUA range, and at just £1 a pop you really can't go wrong!
