We rolled into our campsite for the night at 5:01pm today. We’ve found a spot on the side of the road, about 70km south of Tenent Creek, and 400 north of Alice Springs. Today was another successful day. No major problems with the car – just the usual quarks and oddities.
Our neighbours tonight are one of the Aurora cars – Catherine. We passed her this afternoon and only gained on her marginally. We get to leave a few minutes before them in the morning, and we hope to increase our lead as the day goes on. Our goal is to reach Alice Spring with a dead battery pack, as it is a major control point, and we will not leave until Wednesday morning. This allows us to charge our pack from the moment we arrive. Our plan tomorrow is to arrive around 2pm on a perfect day, and 3pm if it’s cloudy. This should be enough time to build up a full battery pack for Wednesday.
I’m out – camp needs to be set-up before dark and my duties beckon.
