5.0 out of 5 starsGreat MascaraBySarahon October 17, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Didn't know the story behind Maybelline. The book kept meinterested until the very end. It was emotional.I was surprised that the family did not treat Sharrie's mother very well . She suffered from mental illness, very sad that the author didn't even invite her mother to her wedding.Sharrie's grandmother treated her mother horribly, but yet she was greatly admired by the family.

I enjoyed learning about the history of make up industry. Didn't realize that Hollywood promoted make-up until then the 1930's most women did not wear makeup, and if you wore make up you were considered a harlot.I have always like the waterproof mascara by Maybelline it stays on better than themore expensive make up.5.0 out of 5 starsUtterly unstoppable, "Maybe it's Maybelline"ByElisabeth YoungVINE VOICEon October 7, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

This book is so compulsively readable I kept going until I fell asleep and my Kindle hit my face. I love true family dynasty stories because they contain more mystery and twists and turns than fiction books. This one is probably my favorite one. There were a actually heroes to cheer for and bad guys to worry about. You will not go wrong in selecting this book. RECOMMENDED!Comment|Was this review helpful to you?YesNoReport abuse4.0 out of 5 starsGreat story- fascinating to read not only about the story ...ByLove2readon October 13, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

Published 10 days ago by The Cruiser's view on Amazon5.0 out of 5 starsThis was interesting! At the time, a friend of mine lived with her parents in a lake house right next to Miss Maybeline's mansion. We were often swimming in the lake or sunbathing on her dock. I would see Danny King often, taking out Miss Maybelline's boat, etc. We both knew he was gay. He often would say "hello, 'We knew he was trying to build a big club in Hot Springs. After the fire, even I had my doubts about him. I always did feel that he was using her for her money.Interesting, at this time, my friend lived with her parents in a lake house next to Miss Maybelleline's. House. We always were out on my friend's dock, swimming and sunbathing.Read more

Fascinating story of the first family of cosmetics. Sublime, tragic yet triumphant tale of three generations of the Maybelline Dynasty. Arguably every woman has tried the cosmetics. This is a fascinating, cautionary tale of a iconoclastic American family.4.0 out of 5 starsJuicy reading!ByReh526on July 4, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified PurchaseLoved it! I couldn't put it down! Loved the Hollywood history and glamour! The family drama was more than I could've imagined!
5.0 out of 5 starsA Truly Riveting StoryByL. K. Whitleyon June 7, 2017Format: Kindle Edition|Verified PurchaseI REALLY enjoyed this book. We are all familiar with Maybelline and it's wonderful products. It was fascinating to read about how the company was founded and the people involved in it. The story was developed really well and the characters were also developed well. I really recommend this book. It is a fascinating read.
