Morro Rock Sunset

By Edithlevy

On our way to Santa Barbara we stopped for the night in Morro Bay. We arrived in Morro Bay later then we had anticipated and one of the things on my photo bucket list was photographing Morro Rock at sunset. Once we checked into our hotel I dumped my bags (and my husband)…sorry honey (he was tired anyway) and I headed down to the marina.

Morro Rock is located just offshore of Morro Bay and is a 581 foot volcanic plug (according to Wikipedia A volcanic plug, also called a volcanic neck or lava neck, is a volcanic landform created when magma hardens within a vent on an active volcano.)

Anyway I made it to the marina, setup my tripod and camera just in time for one of the most incredible, fiery sunsets I’ve ever seen.
