Let me say this first – if you noticed the artist being 10,000 Maniacs for this cover song, it’s correct even though you don’t hear Natalie Merchant’s unmistakable vocals. After Merchant left the band to pursue a solo career, singer & musician Mary Ramsey took over the role and her vocals are what you hear.
More Than This was originally released in 1982 by the British rock group, Roxy Music. It was the first single from their final album called Avalon. The band’s singer, Bryan Ferry, wrote the lyrics about a love affair that fell apart.
In 1997, 10,000 Maniacs released a cover version that went to #25 on Billboard’s Hot 100. The video above is a live performance from January 2010.
