Last week, I reviewed the Shirley Temple version of The Little Princess. Jean read a new-to-her author, George Mackay Brown, enjoying Beside The Ocean of Time, set on a tiny island north of Scotland.
I keep returning to the topic of London Bridge. Most recently, in March, after I watched a documentary. In that post, I explained how I came naturally to my obsession of bridges by growing up in a small town with an important bridge over the Mississippi.
I'm also a bit obsessed about The History Guy, a channel on YouTube. I wrote a review of that channel in January, including a list of British topics that he has covered in the past.
So, today, I'm combining the two to share The History Guy's take on one of several times in history that the London Bridge came falling down.
The History Guy gives a lot of context about the 2000-year history of the bridge, the invasions and raids of the Vikings over several centuries, and the state of Europe around 1000CE. Old paintings and drawings illustrate the story. My medieval history knowledge is so sketchy that I really appreciated the story centered on what happened in 1014.
