More Catching Fire Posters

Posted on the 18 March 2013 by Kittyfairy @KittyFairy
So, the last of the "chair" posters have arrived for upcoming film: Catching Fire (perhaps you've heard about it??). I'm a bit late putting these up, but in case anyone actually missed them, here they are for your perusal enjoyment:
Last time we had a very, erm, "vibrant" Effie Trinkett and a very pink-haired Caesar Flickerman. This time, we have pretty much everyone else (with a couple of exceptions that might give a little information away, but hopefully no one will notice/care).

Peeta looks really uncomfortable in this image, as if he can't wait to get out of the chair! The thing that I love about this image, is that the outfit looks kind of modern, like the type of clothes men might wear today, but there is such a Hunger Games "twist" to it that makes it very different.

When I first saw this poster of Katniss, I actually said "wow", because she looks incredible and I love her dress. It's kind of glamourous fairy and boy is it amazing.
I find it interesting that Katniss is the only character not to be sat down in her chair - perhaps she wasn't able to, because of that dress, or maybe The Capitol (!) wanted to make sure everyone could see her dress.
Weirdly, this is the first time that I've looked at a picture of Katniss and actually "seen" Jennifer Lawrence. That probably sounds really odd, but Katniss is - in appearance, weirdly - so far detached from what I think of Lawrence, that I find it incredibly easy to imagine them as different people.

Whilst of course we need a poster of Gale - in the real world - I'm not really sure why - in The Hunger Games world - Gale would have a poster, or even entirely why he's holding a rose. I can't help worrying that the films are trying too hard to incorporate the Love Triangle, which whilst it is of course a part of the story, it's not as big a part as I feel they're pushing it towards.

I love this poster of Haymitch, purely because it represents his (apparent) carefree and don't-give-a-shit attitude to everything Capitol and Hunger Games related. It's funny how one image can represent a character so perfectly, like this does.
I do wonder why he doesn't have a white rose too though...

Cinna looking as awesome as ever. What more can be said?

Johanna looks SCARY, which is a good thing, since I always found her to be quite scary in the books.
I don't like her dress as much as I loved Katniss', but it certainly is interesting. What else is interesting is the way that she's holding that white rose. Foreshadowing, perhaps?

I'm not going to lie, Beetee doesn't look at all as I envisaged. I imagined him to be much older - more the age of Mags - however, now that I've finally seen an image of him, in costume, I feel quite positive towards the character.

When I first heard that Sam Claflin had been cast as Finnick, I was disappointed that it wasn't Armie Hammer, but on the other hand, I was quite open-minded until I saw Claflin in action. But, now I've seen this image, I still can't help having my doubts. I know that I still haven't seen him properly in action, but whilst I can handle that it isn't Hammer, I just do not like the overall look that they've taken with the character. It's sort of upper-crust pirate and I'm not - at the minute - a fan of it.
But, I'm going to try and remain positive....try...!

I love this poster of Snow, purely because he's wearing his white rose, whilst all of the others are holding theirs, and anyone who has read the books will know how powerful an image that conveys (which still makes me question why one character, who I think should be holding one isn't, but never mind!).
My favorite aspect of the posters - as a whole - is the way that all of the Tributes are sitting in the same chair, whilst all of the "more important" people each have a different chair.
You can try to interpret a lot from each of these posters - from the type of chair they're sat in, to the way they're sat, the clothes they're wearing and the way that they're holding their rose, but I think it's probably mainly pointless, especially if you know what's going to happen, because you've read the books.
Still, I am pretty excited for November, when Hunger Games: Catching Fire will finally be on at the Cinema, and I'm seriously hoping that now that they've revealed these amazing posters, that we might see a trailer very soon, even if it is - as I expect - just a teaser trailer.
