MONSTER AND MADMAN #3 Review

Up until now, I wasn’t sure the route that this story was going to take. Steve Niles has put a smile on my face and Damien Worm has shown me visuals that I will never forget.

Jack The Ripper has been using the Monster to perform tests to figure out more about him. He comes to a conclusion that he is lonely and wants to create a “companion” for him. Doctors and companions. I was waiting for a Police Box to appear. There was a nice twist to this creation of the Monster’s mate. Instead of just getting a cadaver, it was made up of pieces of Jack’s victims. Awesome, I know. The new creation of a female “monster” comes alive, but not without repercussions. The story takes a turn I never saw coming and you must read it to see what happens.

I thought this was the best book so far.  There was such life given to a somewhat lifeless character. The portrayal of Frankenstein’s Monster is unlike I have ever seen. As far as a visual interpretation of a great story, Damien Worm kills it. When I first read Monster and Madman #1, I wasn’t the biggest fan of what I was looking at because it was so different. By issue 2, I was a fan. I am now in love with his style. I keep noticing something different when I look back. It fits this story perfectly.

All in all, this is a fantastic horror story with an old school feel to it. Definitely worth checking out.
