After reading the first book, I could not WAIT for this one. I find this concept so interesting and captivating. If you are a fan of anything horror related, this series must be read. The Monster is roaming the streets, depressed, lonely when a prostitute tries to make a buck. After seeing who it was, the streets fill with terror! Low and behold! Who is the saving grace in the matter? None other than John Moore…but his friends call him Jack.

The way that The Monster is portrayed in this story is that of a human being. I love the line that is said between Jack and The Monster when Jack asks, “Do the dead frighten you?” The Monster replies, “No. I have never been hunted by the dead.” It brings out the side of him that he just wants to be seen and treated as a normal human being and not judged by his looks. I can relate to that. The books closing made me smile because if I know Jack, then I have a feeling I know what might happen.

While this book’s story is intriguing, the art is beyond me. Worm’s work is like nothing I have ever seen. It fits the mood of the book to a T. The effect of texture on the pages makes me wish I wasn’t reading it digitally and had the originals in my hand to just feel it. Very cool stuff in my eyes.

If you are interested in these two characters at all or enjoy a unique story, check out Monster and Madman #2.
