At MKP whether you are a client or a model you can expect to be treated as a human rather than merely as a subject. This variation comes through clearly in the pictures that one can see in the MKP portfolio where human sentiments are highlighted through raw emotion in the eyes and expression of the model. This undisguised and sincere emotion is what makes MKP’s images stand apart from the rest and what allows them to capture important moments in people’s lives and make them memorable.

Questions with Mohsin Khawar

  • I believe you were an architecture student in college? How did you get into photography?

It started while traveling to Kalash Valley and then became a passion. I am practicing Architecture along as well now for selective clients.

  • At what age did you get your first camera? Did you ever practice by taking shots of your family members?

I earned my first camera after working in the first year of my degree. I only used to practice travel and conceptual photography.

  • You are making quite a name for yourself in the fashion industry. Can you tell our readers, why fashion photography?

Don’t know…haven’t really thought about it but I love this art of photography. It’s my passion and I cannot think of myself leaving it. I make visuals; it does not matter if it’s fashion, travel or an abstract.

  • What does it take to become a recognized photographer in Pakistan?

It takes a lot of persistent hard work and love for your passion. Patience is an important ingredient too.

  • What kind of shoots do you enjoy the most? For example if you had to choose between: fashion, wedding, portraits, etc?

Fashion of course. I love travel and architectural photography too.

  • Do you prefer doing an outdoor shoot with natural lighting or an indoor shoot where you have more control?

I prefer doing an outdoor shoot. I blend natural light with my artificial lighting. Light is my forte!

  • Would the advice you give to budding photographers today be different from the advice you would’ve given a couple of years back? What would that be?

I still believe one should only jump into a profession if they are really passionate about it because that is only when you will sustain and succeed.

  • When you are not in the studio or at a shoot where can you be found?

On a jogging track or at my favorite restaurant!

  • What are your future plans for yourself as a photographer and for your company, MKP?

I want the world to know what we do and admire the fact we are from a beautiful country, Pakistan!

  • Which is the one project you have had the most fun doing? What was the concept behind that particular shoot?

I enjoy all my projects as each has a different homework. Best is yet to come!
