Government proposed Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has been appointed the caretaker prime minister of the country by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakharuddin G Ibrahim announced the decision in a press-conference on Sunday following a meeting of ECP. The meeting chaired by CEC and attended by Justice (retd) Fazal-ur-Rehman, Justice (retd) Shahzad Akbar, Justice (retd) Riaz Kiyani and Justice (retd) Roshan Isani.
The ECP deliberated comprehensively over the names of Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bakhash Palijo, proposed by opposition and Dr Ishrat Hussain and Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, proposed by government, for the prestigious post.
The task to appoint caretaker prime minister was assigned to the ECP after Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed and later an eiaght-member parliamentary committee failed to in reaching a consensus.
