Microsoft has already released a program for students in colleges and universities as part of an educational program in Office 365. Teachers and employees of educational institutions can also get benefit from this program. I’ll show you what options are available and how to get the program.

Microsoft Office 365 – what’s that?

Microsoft Office 365 is the product since 2011. It is the cloud version of the decades offered by Microsoft Office suite Microsoft Office. Besides the familiar programs Word, Excel and PowerPoint there are other services such as Lync (audio and video calls), SharePoint Online (teamwork) and Exchange Online (e) which are included.

Who can use Office 365 for free?

If you want to try Office 365 for free, Microsoft makes you to activate your Office 365 account automatically for a 30-day evaluation period. During this time, you may be asked to provide the relevant evidence that you are a student at a college or university. Administrative staff like professors and lecturers can come with a proof to enjoy a free license.

Desktop version of Office Professional Plus available at a nominal fee

Who wants to use Office 365 not only online in the browser, but in addition also, can use the desktop version of Office Professional Plus (currently 2010) for a small fee per month subscription. Students pay $ 2.50 per user per month. For faculty and staff, the price is currently $ 4.50 per user per month.
