MJMichael Jordan ‘s Paternity Case

On Monday March 4, 2013, the Charlotte Bobcats were playing against the Trail Blazers. Michael Jordan, who is the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, visited a Georgia court earlier that day. A report done by the Associated Press has stated that Jordan is trying to get a paternity case dismissed. The case is set to go to court on March 12, 2013.

Jordan is allegedly the father of a 16 year-old named Taj. Pamela Smith is the mother of Taj. She is requesting that Jordan undergo paternity testing because she really believes that he is the father of her son. Smith is also requesting that Taj’s last name be changed to Jordan. Taj’s last name is now Reynolds, which is the last name of Smith’s ex-husband. Smith and her ex-husband Glenville G. Reynolds split in 2003. In addition to a name change, Smith also wants Jordan to pay child support and Taj’s health care expenses that are not covered by health insurance.

Jordan calls the allegations shameless. He has also stated that they are trying to abuse the legal system. John Mayoue, who is the attorney representing Jordan, has stated that the paternity of Taj was conclusively established during Smith and Reynold’s 2003 divorce proceedings. Mayoue also stated that Jordan will work very hard to defend his reputation.

April Love is Smith’s publicist. She has stated that Jordan and Smith met back in the 1980s. Love believes that Jordan should take the paternity test because it is the right thing to do. She also stated that Smith had no choice but to support Taj on her own.

What Taj Has To Say

Taj really does believe that Jordan is his father. In fact, during Christmas 2012, he posted a video on YouTube urging Jordan to come out from hiding. He also stated that he wants Jordan to be in his life.

This Is Not The First Paternity Case That Jordan Has Faced

During the early 1990s, Jordan had an affair with a woman named Karla Knafel. She found out that she was pregnant in 1991. Jordan allegedly paid her $250,000 to keep the relationship secret. He also promised her $5,000,000 if she agreed not to file a paternity suit. A paternity test later showed that Jordan was not the father of the child.

Michael Jordan Getting Hitched Again

Jordan became engaged to his girlfriend named Yvette Prieto in 2011. They are set to get married soon. In fact, many reports have stated that Jordan applied for a marriage license on Tuesday. This will be his second marriage. He and his first wife named Juanita divorced in 2006 citing irreconcilable differences.
