The messy side bun is a really fun way of putting your hair up. If your anything like me, then you like a bit of texture to your hair. I don't mind my hair smooth and straight when it's down, but I have a definite aversion to neat and tidy up do's at the moment, don't get me wrong, I think that neat and tidy hair has its place, but I much prefer something more thrown together.
I find it easier to attempt this style on day old hair, because if it's freshly washed it's much harder to work with and style.
The first thing that I do is separate out my fringe with a clip and then I back-comb and tease my hair to within an inch of it's being, not the best of looks I can assure you!
When all of my hair is back-combed, I just twist my hair to the side really loosely, but still in the vague shape of a bun,to the side of my head and secure with hair grips.
When I'm done I just loosen it all up a bit to add some volume, style my fringe and pull out some longer bits by my ears.
Finally I add hairspray and I'm good to go!!
