I love being a stay at home mom and even though I’m young I’m very old fashioned in the sense that I believe men should be at work and women at home – Says Alys
I live with my partner and our 2 sons, James who is 4 and Harry who is only 2 months old. We live in Petworth and I’m 20 years old. I was a stay at home mom from day one because I was only 16 when I had my first baby, so I never had a job to start with.
I love being a stay at home mom and even though I’m young I’m very old fashioned in the sense that I believe men should be at work and women at home.
I love being around from the minute my boys get up to the minute they go to bed. I enjoy doing everything for them (within reason) and teaching them the important lessons in life.
I also like making my home nice and clean for when my partner gets home. I don’t like how lonely I can get sometimes.
I find the smiles I get from them to be the most rewarding.
I do believe people think us stay at home mums sit around all day watching TV doing nothing. That is not true; we work hard too.
The advice I would give to anyone mom thinking of staying home would be to make sure you have plenty of things to do or the boredom and loneliness does kick in.
I have friends over in the evening and have girly chat. I think it’s important to make time for yourself or you’ll end up driving yourself insane.
I know my kids are being looked after to the standard I require, I know that I’m giving consistency and that no babysitter or child-minder will leave them at the drop of a hat.
Being a stay at home mom is rewarding and I won’t miss any special moment but I do kind of feel like I’ve lost my identity sometimes.
Do you agree with Alys that men should be at work and women at home?
