It seems like just yesterday we were covering NYFW’s spring 2012 trends for men, and now having arrived (nearly) at “spring 2012”, all focus is shifted to fall. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is buzzing with menswear markedly different from the collections of last fall, and we’re here with some of the biggest emerging trends that debuted last week.
Dark navy
Navy so dark it’s almost black was a subtle nod to last year’s breakout color star cobalt. However the fall collections keep the shade much more seasonally appropriate by rendering it darker and moodier.

Winespired
Some of the most gorgeous palettes sported hues cribbed straight from the vineyard, with Tommy Hilfiger’s “merlot” pieces a shining example.

Leather
So, leather jackets for men are less a trend than a staple, but the updated full leather suits and croc leather at Hermès are an adventurous update on the classic.

Metal Accents on Shoes

Shearling
Last fall’s women’s looks really kick started this trend, and from shearling vests to boots, the textured material has been everywhere – except for respectable menswear. Whether it’s a twist on the conventional or full blown Willy Wonka-playful, the shearling look is definitely a trend.
