I don't normally report Saturday ratings, but Donald Trump's SNL hosting gig delivered the show's best ratings in nearly 4 years. The last time the show saw numbers like this was in 2012 when Charles Barkley hosted and Kelly Clarkson was the musical guest. The Donald's appearance generated a 2.7 RA18-49. Not sure if Larry David' will collect, but some immigrants rights group said that they'd give the guy $5000 bucks for calling Trump a racist. David delivered, not that he needs the dough or anything. Maybe he'll give it to Hillary's campaign.
THE SHOWS Master of None When was the last time you watched anything and said, "I need to watch that again…now!" My son and I were OBSESSED with Master of None and watched all 10 episodes this weekend. After every episode we turned to each other and said "that was awesome." When we finished Sunday morning (before the gym), we were so upset it was over and thought about starting it again. Aziz Ansari is the writer, producer and directed a bunch of the episodes. He will win Best Comedy at the Emmy's this year. You heard it hear first. It's a little bit Friends, a little bit Seinfeld, and a little bit Sex and the City. Every single character's awesome, Aziz's real parents play his parents in the show and the Dad is hilarious. It's insightful, funny, smart and must see TV. I can't imagine having to had to wait a week for a new episode, this one NEEDS to be binged!
Madam Secretary
Okay a couple of new observations. Did you ever notice how much Chinese food everyone orders for lunch, dinner or late night snacks on this show? Henry seems to eat it in every episode as does Russell and sometimes the entire McCord family enjoys too. How do they all stay so thin if all they do is eat Mu Shu? So now in addition to sleeves, blouses with ties, and coffee making, I'm adding Chinese food to the Madam Secretary "watch" list.Who knew Elizabeth had an equally overachieving brother? They may have gone at it over each others jobs, but Elizabeth won in the hair category. Eric Stoltz was having a bit of a hair situation. Not sure why the stylist didn't take care of that in the makeup trailer. How is it that the Secretary of State can figure out a way to go fly fishing in an hour, and actually catch a fish, but not be able to take her daughter to the mall? Priorities I guess.National security isn't at stake at Abercrombie, or maybe it is? She did have to use intel from her bro to kill that American Isis dude though, so I guess I do understand her objective. I'm not liking Henry as a war professor/spy. I want him to go back to his teaching and dump Jill Hennessey. I've never been a fan of hers, she's got to go.
The Good Wife
THE OTHER STUFF
-I'm not a fan of Mark Maron's show on IFC, but I do enjoy him when he's on Howard Stern. The guy's a misery, so maybe IFC's phone call with the news that he got another season out of them will turn that guys frown upside down.
Monday's Trivia Question: Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz & Lucy Liu starred in the movie version of this 70's Primetime cop show. Name the show and their TV counterparts.
