Marvel has been championing their female led series, with good reason, but with the recent cover reveals for one of them, Spider-Woman, it looks like they are taking a page from the competition with an overly sexualized image. Below is the variant cover to Spider-Woman #1 by Milo Manara. There are several issues with this image and that is coming from a male perspective.
First, what pose is that? It looks like the cover to a porn and she is in position to, well, you know. Next, did she just paint her skin red or are we supposed to believe that her costume goes up her butt that much? What kind of view are the people in the skyscrapers getting behind her? There would be tons of Twitter posts from that building with #cameltoe or maybe #spidertoe on them. To be fair, I’ve always felt a little sorry for her male counterpart, Spider-Man, because he wears skintight outfits and I don’t think anybody has made any #mooseknuckle posts about him. Poor guy doesn’t look to be packing much of anything.

And, in case you thought the Greg Land cover was better, it is bad for another reason:

SPIDER-WOMAN #1
I didn’t realize that Jessica was a double amputee. Based on this cover it sure looks like she is missing both legs below the knee. Maybe that is what Silk is looking at. Or perhaps there is still a #cameltoe situation. Love the retro looking title though.
