Marvel Owns San Diego Comic Con 2013

Posted on the 22 July 2013 by Geekasms @geekasms

I think everyone agrees that Marvel won the San Diego Comic Con with great surprise guests and reveals that pretty much embarassed everyone else.  They have now revealed the title cards for three of their upcoming movies that were talked about at SDCC:

cap2

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is up first and the footage released at SDCC is getting lots of buzz.  I really enjoyed the first film (who didn’t?) so I can’t wait until that footage is released or leaked.

guardians of the galaxy

Four months later we get Guardians of the Galaxy.  What an enigma this movie has been.  When it was announced it caused some head scratching because it certainly is not a well known property.  Us Whovians got excited as soon as Karen Gillan was cast, but now SDCC announcements have me pretty interested.  The cast looks amazing and I here they are going pretty light hearted with it.

avengers2

The other two movies and titles had already been announced so this was the big reveal of the day.  We all knew that there was a second Avengers movie coming, but when they announced that it was going to be “Age of Ultron”, geeks everywhere collectively $#!+ themselves.

Plus we have Thor: The Dark World that is coming out later this year.

This is why Marvel won the day.  DC announced Superman vs Batman or whatever it is going to be called, but their track record leaves us all worried.  Marvel has already shown that they want to be faithful to the source material and these announcements confirm that.  Sure they change stuff, but they are farming the comics for stories we all love and they have done a masterful job of it.  Now, if we can just all get to see the footage that was shown at SDCC I will be happy.
