Margaritas & Monograms

By Sassysweetstyle @ChaniaB

Since it poured the entire 4th. of July weekend, the hubster decided he wanted to have a margarita day Saturday. Since coffee & alcohol are now must-haves in the house, I was all for it! Hey, since we were getting crazy, I decided to whip out my Silhouette & do some crafts. Crafting & cocktails go together like Peanut Butter & Jelly! ;)

I’m a flavored & frozen margarita kind of girl, so the hubster played around with this recipe {I don’t have the exact concoction because he always adds to taste, but you’ll get the jist:) }.

{Adapted from}Chambord Raspberry Margarita

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup Sour Mix
  • 5 ounces Patron
  • 2 1/2 ounces triple sec, liqueur 2 ounces Cointreau
  • 1 1/2 ounces Chambord raspberry liquor, raspberry liqueur
  • 3 lime wedges
Directions 1
Combine sugar with warm water in a pitcher and stir or shake until sugar is dissolved. Add sour mix, tequila, cointreau,  and triple sec and put the pitcher in the freezer for several hours , until the drink is frozen.
2
When the drink is frozen, use a long spoon to mix it up until it’s slushy and smooth. The alcohol in the drink will prevent it from freezing solid so that you can easily break it up by stirring.
3
To make each drink, pour 1/2 oz Chambord into the bottom of a large margarita glass. Pour the frozen margarita over the Chambord and the liqueur will swirl itself into the frozen margarita mix.
4
Garnish with a lime wedge and a straw. We didn’t have any margarita glasses in the house because we did a “booze glass purge” when we moved from North Carolina, so I enjoyed my frosty beverages in a Martini Glass instead.

What is your favorite way to enjoy a Margarita? Mixing Cocktails with Crafting is either a good thing or bad thing.  Sometimes my projects turn out better because I’m not concentrating so hard.  Other times, my stuff ends up crooked.  Well this time stuff ended up crooked, so don’t look too close!

If you’ve read any blog lately, you’ve likely seen a Vino2Go cup.  I thought this was a GENIUS idea for keeping your drinks from spilling, keeping bugs out of it at a BBQ & keeping curious kiddos from getting a hold of Mommy’s Sanity Juice. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to Monogram it or put “Mommy’s Sippy Cup” on it, so I did both!

Gahhh lighting was a pain in the booty! What do you think? Do you have a Vino2Go? I LOVE technology.  When it comes to being organized however, I have to keep it old school with a planner.   Since it’s my brain, if my brain was malfunctioning or out of commission, I would be lost. I love all of the fancy planners you can purchase online, but they’re SO expensive.  When I found this gem at Target for $8, I decided to Monogram it myself & have some fun.
