John Manchak, who works in philosophy of physics and the foundations of general relativity and is currently an associate professor at the University of Washington, has accepted a tenured offer as an associate professor at the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science at UC Irvine. Manchak will start at UC Irvine in January 2015. This senior hire will make a department which is already very strong in philosophy of physics even stronger–and more attractive for prospective graduate students. It also continues the trend of strengthening the philosophy of physics in Southern California!
