Mama-to-be Sonya Gavankar-McKay Shows off Thyme Maternity Looks

By Verybusymama @verybusymama
This is a guest post and review from mama-to-be and Washington, D.C. television personality Sonya Gavankar-Mckay. She is the host of the Newseum and you can catch her weekly on The Arch Campbell Show.  She is due with her first child July 31st.
My lifestyle is as busy as any urban, professional mom-to-be, but with my work as a television journalist, there seems to be a higher level of expectation for style and professionalism. When Maria asked if I would review a few looks from Thyme Maternity, a Canadian maternity wear company sold exclusively at Babies R Us, I said "Yes please!" I chose the Plum Cap-Sleeve Nursing Dress for a recent entertainment show appearance. The sizing was pretty accurate, however I felt worried all day it was too short. The soft jersey blend stretched beautifully and the added spandex clung in just the right way, but the thread count seemed too low and I felt compelled to wear a slip from my prematerntiy days to make sure the dress wasn't see through. The best part is the modesty panel built into the bust. It makes you feel covered while still showing off the best asset of pregnancy, "the girls". After you give birth, this thoughtful construction allows for nurse without feeling like you are undressing. Next up was the Scoop Neck Color Block Top that really is an awesome dress. The material is nice and thick with seams in the right places to show off the best of your new body. Light ruching at the sides hug perfectly. I wore it with leggings for extra confidence if it started to ride up. For the first time in over 250 days I felt like I looked great. Maybe I should have worn maternity clothes earlier? So here I am with less than 40 days to go and I have actually found clothes that fulfill my high expectations! BUMMER. I wish I had spent more time in the maternity section of Babies R Us as opposed to writing them off!  With lots of color options, you can road test your own items, then go online and buy the other colors for an economical, stylish maternity wardrobe. Thyme Maternity will be my first stop for nursing bras! Have you shopped Thyme Maternity? Follow Sonya and her new mama adventures Twitter | Facebook | Blog
