Making Old Things New Again!

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

I  LOVE to take old things and make them new again. I don't have much time to do so but this one I just couldn't pass up.

I ran into my local Goodwill store to buy some coffee table books for an upcoming vacant home staging job and on my way back to the book section look what I found!

Old Dirty Chair

A classic chair. In great shape and very sturdy. Sticker price.......$2.99!

I grabbed that chair so fast I created a breeze.

A couple days later I got going on my project. I took out the 4 screws  holding the seat on,

Seat Cushion Off

then I primed the wood with Kilz Block Out Primer (because I refuse to sand anything). I hate to sand!  Then, I took some leftover paint I had from painting an Antique Hutch (Dorian Gray by Sherwin Williams) and within a short period of time the hardest part was done.

Bolts of Fabric
Well, not the hardest. The most difficult task was limiting the fabric to recover the chair seat. I LOVE fabric. Love it. So of course when I ran into JoAnn Fabrics I could not make up my mind on a fabric. Too many choices, so many great looks. It took me longer to pick out the fabric then to prime and paint the chair! LOL

But I finally narrowed it down to two and bought both. I am going to switch them out for different looks when I get tired of one.

A few staples to secure the new fabric right over the old, put the 4 screws back in to hold the seat down and

Drum Roll Please......

My new chair!! How cute is that!

Repurposed Chair

The chair $2.99. The fabric $6.79. The chair "PRICELESS".

It's first use, a chair for a child's "craft and study nook" at a luxury new construction home I staged. This chair can be used so many places.

So don't overlook those past treasures. Make them new again!
