Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood will take oath as Punjab Governor today
Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood will take oath as Punjab Governor in a ceremony on Tuesday (today).
He will replace Latif Khosa, who tendered his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday.
Mehmood was elected as a member of the Punjab Assembly from PP-292, Rahim Yar Khan on the ticket of Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) but after being chosen as Punjab Governor he resigned from his party.
According to sources former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, who is Mehmood’s cousin, played a pivotal role in his appointment as governor.
On Monday Mehmood met Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Deputy Prime Minister Pervez Elahi at their residence. On this occasion, he promised to fulfill his duties with utmost responsibility.
