Magnificent 7th: Beach

This month’s theme is Beach, I decided I’d choose an outfit that I would like to wear to Blackpool beach, or Lythem St Annes, because they are the nearest beaches to me.

When my Simply Be order arrived this week I knew I had the perfect outfit, the Pocket Rocket Blogger Dress. Unfortunately that wasn’t to be, I’ve seen this dress on so many people and knew that I had to have it, I even put it on my Simply Be account I wanted it that much.

I had originally ordered a 22, but when I saw Becky she said to size down to an 18, she had a 20 and could have sized down again. I then went and reordered the dress in an 18, and she was right, the 22 would have been far too big for me.

I will be sending back my Pocket Rocket dress which I am very disappointed about, I’m going to tell you why I’m sending it back. The main reason being that I can’t justify spending £45 on a dress that I am not 100% in love with.

The first thing I noticed when I put the dress on was that the print doesn’t line up, I look at it and think it would have taken only a little pit more effort to match up so that the ice creams were in line even if they weren’t perfectly in proportion to the full ice cream print. For me the print not matching up means I can’t wear it without a belt, and it’s not a dress that I would choose to wear a belt with because the print is a big enough statement.

I also had issues with the neckline, it just doesn’t suit me and I don’t like the extra fabric that there seems to be. I tried to pull it back down inside but it wouldn’t.

The dress is made of a lovely fabric which is heavy enough that it can be worn in the winter, but not too heavy that it isn’t a summer dress. I think in winter, it will look fabulous with mustard tights and a pair of boots to add a fun flair. The heaviness of the fabric would have allowed me to wear this to Blackpool beach without much worry that it would be blowing up all the time with the sea breeze, though I would wear a pair of tights underneath because the breeze can be chilly!

I also felt big in this dress, in most of my clothes I don’t have this issue, and it’s obviously just a style of dress that doesn’t suit my body, and no matter how much I love the print I can’t spend £45 on a dress that will end up sat in my wardrobe. However if it does end up in the sale or someone sells it for around £20, then I probably would pick it up again.

Don’t forget to see what the other lovely ladies would wear to the beach.
