Made for Each Other: Sarah and Matt’s Dorset Wedding

These are roman­tic wed­ding pho­tographs with a com­pelling atmos­phere to them. They are quiet, and joy­ful, and heart­warm­ing — thanks to wed­ding pho­tog­ra­pher Ben Pipe.

Words are by Sarah and Matt. (My favorite words are about wait­ers in clown suits… towards the end. Bril­liant — and just so apt for my wed­ding blog.) This kind of wed­ding makes me love what I do. To bits.

“We met some five years ago at a party and within a month or so we were liv­ing in each other’s pock­ets, spend­ing every sec­ond we could together and were well and truly in love. Since then we have not looked back, we have three gor­geous chil­dren (Ella, Alfie and Dixie) and are still as much in love today as we were when we first met.

We were mar­ried on the 9th Decem­ber 2011 at Athel­hamp­ton House, Dorset. The recep­tion also took place here. The idea was to get mar­ried between our birth­days which hap­pen to fall around Christ­mas time. This made the occa­sion extra spe­cial as the Christ­mas dec­o­ra­tions and tree were up and every­one was in great spir­its. We were extremely lucky with the weather and we got the one sunny day of the week which made for a much hap­pier feel and some stun­ning pho­tographs from Ben.

Our wed­ding was with­out doubt the hap­pi­est day of our lives! Every­one we wanted to be there came and enjoyed them­selves, the food was fan­tas­tic, the wed­ding pho­tographs were amaz­ing, the speeches were hilar­i­ous and there was no feel­ing of pres­sure what­so­ever.







I wore a Mori Lee wed­ding dress with a sweet­heart neck line, a clas­sic style from But­ter­fly Brides in Pound­bury, Dorch­ester. My neck­lace, shoes and ear­rings were from Deben­hams, my hair band from Flo and Percy.

Matt wore a cus­tom made suit from “A Suit That Fits” (Lon­don west end branch). His shoes were from Rus­sell & Brom­ley. All of the groom’s party wore royal blue silk ties as a salute to his favorite foot­ball club Ever­ton FC.

Mem­o­rable wed­ding day moments

On our first dance I found out that Matt had recorded his ver­sion of “God only knows” by the beach boys which made me and a few peo­ple cry… happy tears!

Wed­ding day advice

Don’t lis­ten to ANYONE else apart from each other. It’s YOUR day, you will only ever do it once so make it yours. If you don’t want speeches, don’t have speeches! If you want the wait­ers to be dressed as clowns, phone the cir­cus and start book­ing the cos­tumes! Always try to come back to the rea­son why you are doing this in the first place: each other.

As a result we have some amaz­ing nat­ural shots and some crack­ing staged ones too. A great guy too which helps you to relax and enjoy the day.
