By Lamamma @LAmamma1

Urgh, it can gnaw away at us, that craving for something tasty, and of course we right now no as well. Unfortunately, this is what makes it so easy to reach candy bar, but before you do that check out the awesome low carb and quick to make snacks below.

Ice Cream

Ice cream is bad for you and full of icky toxins like sugar, right? Well, not necessarily, it all depends on what your diet consists of, and if you are going low carb, some homemade ice cream like the super easy recipe found at Low Carb So Simple is perfect.

Its ready in minutes and you don’t even need an ice cream machine to make it, just a couple of ziplock bags and a few other ingredients. Something that makes it the perfect treat when only something sweet and creamy will do!

Choc Chip Mug Cake

Of course, if you are looking for another low carb treat to accompany your ice cream why not try this delicious chocolate chip 1-minute mug cake recipe from www.tasteaholics.com that is super quick to make too. In fact, you can have it cooking while you make the ice cream!

Homemade Hummus

Hummus is traditionally fairly high in carb because of the chickpeas. However, you can easily make a low carb version in your blender at home that tastes delicious and is a perfect snack.

All you need is the more traditional ingredients like garlic, olive oil, tahini, and lemon juice and then add those to either a base of ground nuts, or cooked cauliflower florets.

I could give you precise measurements here, but actually, I think it always works best when you make it to your own personal taste. After all, some of us love a more garlicky hummus while others prefer that fresh lemon taste. As a rough guide though, a handful of almonds will do, and about double that of cooked cauliflower florets. Don’t forget to crush the almonds before you put them in the mixer though, as they are pretty tough.

All in all, if you are working with precooked or pre-crushed ingredients, this will take you no longer than 2 minutes! Serve with raw vegetables or jerky for a delicious low carb treat.

Cloud Bread

Lastly, sometimes only bread will relieve that craving you have. Unfortunately, bread is one of the worst offenders for high carbs, unless you make cloud bread instead.

Cloud bread is a clever invention of the low carb world and only uses a few ingredients to make. In fact, all you need is ½ oz cream cheese, 3 egg whites, and ¼ tsp cream of tartar.

Whip the egg whites and cream cheese until stiff, and remember to use full-fat cream cheese for the best result. Then add in the cream of tartar, mix gently and turn out of a microwave-safe plate. Cook for 30 seconds on a medium to high setting and check. Repeat this process until it’s cooked all the way through, and then you have it some delicious and low carb cloud bread. Perfect for sandwiches or eating with the hummus recipe above.
