Lorde of the Pop Flies

By Nottheworstnews @NotTheWorstNews

CNN reports that a few San Francisco radio stations have removed Lorde’s “Royals” from their play lists, as the San Francisco Giants will play the Kansas City Royals in the World Series beginning tomorrow.

The article quoted a Kansas City radio station 99.7 The Point’s, program director as saying:

“A few angry San Franciscans who don’t have a song called ‘Giants’ won’t rain on our parade.”

3 Questions That Arise From This Story

1. Why is nobody banning Lorde’s song “Team?” Because according to the song everyone is on the same team, which would make for a boring World Series that might be too similar to a boring soccer game between toddlers where nobody keeps score.

2. Hey K.C. program director, has it ever occurred to you that there are literally decades of songs about San Francisco you could use in a similar gimmicky way? Want to ban a song? Try the Mowgli’s “San Francisco.” Want to play a song that disses San Francisco? Go for Wild Light’s “California On My Mind.” Seriously, do we have to start our own radio station in Kansas City to play this rivalry up?

3. Will anyone notice that Lorde’s song from 2012 is not being played during the World Series? We mean, that song is so old, that the year it was released, the San Francisco Giants were in the World Series.
