Is This A Trump Commercial Or Trailer To The Latest Purge Movie?

By Nottheworstnews @NotTheWorstNews

We were watching MSNBC and CNN tonight and saw a new Trump campaign commercial that made us think we were watching an ad for a new Purge movie.

Specifically, it features a female voice sounding much like the Purge trailer voiceover telling us all emergency services will be closed during the Purge.

Here is a link to the ad via Twitter for you to view before we ask three questions mocking the ad:

Question 1: What is the “9-1-1 Police Emergency Line?”

Did someone defund the fire department and paramedics, too, in this dystopia? Or did the de-funded police win an auction to get exclusive rights to 9-1-1 from the other emergency services? And if so, where did they get the money for that when they were defunded?

Question 2: So wait, this line still will accept calls to report rapes, murders and home invasions?

But for all other crimes someone will get back to you in five days? We are not ad geniuses (and neither are the authors of this commercial, in our opinion), but it sounds like the police will still take your call for the very serious crimes if you press 1, 2 or 3. And if you wanted to report another crime like white collar fraud, someone will get back to you in an estimated wait time of five days – sounds like an improved turnaround time!

Question 3: How old is this phone?

It’s got one of those circa 2006 Blackberry flashing lights and is also apparently operating as a circa 1986 answering machine. Although the voice in the ad sounds like the woman in the Purge, the phone looks more like the original 1979 “When A Stranger Calls” device… which would have reminded us of a far scarier movie.
