A care home in the Littlehampton seaside resort of Rustington has been severely criticised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after a recent inspection uncovered a number of failings.
After visiting the Darlington Court care home back in June 2013, the watchdog’s inspectors reported back that four out of five key areas were not being met. Problems at the home included record-keeping, staffing and care training, respect of residents and welfare.
The report on the Darlington Court care home stated:
“There was no evidence that care plans had been designed to meet individual needs. This meant that people’s care needs were not being managed safely by the service,”
“People’s privacy, dignity and independence have not been respected. People’s views and experiences were not taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care.”
The independent health regulator has now told the home’s owner Care UK that it must take immediate action to rectify the problems, even though the company’s regional director for Sussex, Sarah O’Mara, is arguing against the report, claiming that the evaluation was unfair and carried out incorrectly.
