I wouldn’t say I am a regular blogger. I’ve had 2 blogs earlier – the first one was active for most of the first 3 years since I began blogging and the second one was for a very short while. I have no explanations as to why the earlier 2 blogs became inactive and died a slow death (a very harsh term to use, I know!) but for my new blog I’ll try all my best efforts to keep it active and going! All those who write, either a diary or a blog or anywhere else would know the kind of satisfaction it gives to pour your heart out on a paper (virtual or otherwise) and just let your thoughts flow. During the course of previously mentioned 2 blogs I came across some great bloggers and couple of them are still on my facebook friend list with whom I get to interact occasionally. And I am thankful for that. I want to branch out to as many people as I can through this blog and let them know what I think, I do or what I believe in.
So after crawling through a slow internet, super slow computer, creating a profile and then going through the trauma of thinking of a good blog name (I typed 15 names and only one was available) my very first blog on wordpress is live and active. I am glad I started doing something I’ve been thinking about for a while and actually took out time and efforts to work in that direction. Yay!!!!!
I also had a little visitor yesterday afternoon in my balcony. A small little pigeon! Some of you may find this stupid or just a regular everyday event but ask someone who has been living in the Middle East what it truly means. Its difficult to catch a sight of a bird in this part of the world because of the extreme climate we live in. It’s horrendous for a human to walk in the afternoon sun during summers, so imagine what it would feel for the birds. But we are having winters now and skies are beautiful with flock of birds flying by every morning and evening. When I noticed this small little pigeon I immediately called my 2 year old son to watch this beautiful bird coiled in one corner. He was at his usual best when he notice birds or pets or animals. He was more than excited and started screaming mo-mo ( which in his language means a bird!). He played for a while going in and out of the balcony trying to touch the bird, which obviously he couldn’t do because he would go back as soon the bird would flutter the wings. In the mean time I thought it would be injured but I noticed that it couldn’t fly through a huge glass wall in our balcony because it was a small baby who accidentally landed here and mostly kept to the ground as it was unable to fly very high. I am scared to touch or hold pets, animals, birds and all live being except humans, so it was impossible for me to hold the bird, let it sit on the railing of our glass wall and watch what it would do next. Or worse it won’t fly and fall to the ground. I handed a bowl of water to my son who kept it near the bird so it could drink some water when thirsty till the time it choose to be our guest. Later, I tucked my son to sleep in his bed and let the bird stay in our balcony whole of the afternoon and night. It isn’t as cold in the noon as it is in the night which gets really chilly so we placed a small shoe box and let it sit inside during the night. In the morning when I went to check, it had already flown away. I believe it flew away early morning because birds are known to be early risers and can be seen in the sky at the first call of morning prayers. I checked the bowl of water and was glad to find it was half empty!
This little visitor gave me some food for thought – Imagine leaving your house and going miles across to go to another country, being surrounded by people you don’t know and having a vague idea of being accepted by new country and its people. I had exact same feelings when I came to Dubai after getting married 3 years back. I don’t intend to make this post a long one so I’ll write more about that in my coming blog post.
xoxo
