Listen: Drake Ft Jay Z – Pound Cake

To quote Mark Wahlberg in The Departed, Drake’s new record ‘has more leaks than the Iraqi Navy’.

Drake-Nothing-Was-The-Same

Nothing Was The Same will be Drake’s third studio album and has been highly anticipated since his breakout record Take Care and is extremely available across the internet right now.

The most recent track to make its way to the service is ‘Pound Cake’, a soulful mellow jam that sees Drake reflecting on his fame and the past (surprise, surprise). We’re not sure what a ‘Pound Cake’ is exactly, perhaps there was an offer on lemon slices in Tesco that got Drake all inspired?

The song features a heavyweight appearance from Jay Z,  some solid production and a little nod  to the Wu Tang Clan’s ‘C.R.E.A.M’, before sailing off into an interlude known as ‘Paris Morton Music 2′ in which Drake sets the mood for the whole record with the line ‘Fuck all that happy to be here shit that you want me on’. We wouldn’t want you any other way Drizzy.

It happens to be pretty darn good good and should be just enough to get you hot under the collar for the album release. You don’t think they leak these things by accident, do you?

Nothing Was The Same is set for official release on September 24th if you can manage to hold off that long and you can listen to ‘Pound Cake’ below:
