California-based experimental hip-hop outfit, Death Grips, yet again release a new single out of obscurity. The track seems to be picking back up where thier debut release, Exmilitary left off. It features acoustic drums from Zach Hill and a guitar-based sample as its focal point. MC Ride also takes a new, sedated approach to the vocals on this track, rather than the constant and strained screaming we’re all used to.
With its references to ‘Jesus’, ‘Power’, and distorted high pitch screams reminiscent of Yeezus. Is ‘Birds’ just a subtle Kanye West diss? Nevertheless, there’s no doubt its release will alert Death Grips fans everywhere to the possible imminence of a new album.
