I took this list from Wikipedia because I thought it would be nice to share. Over 30 artists and groups performed at the festival for a crowd of nearly a million hippies. In 1969 concerts of the magnitude were unheard of and maintains it's title as the largest gathering in history. The 3 day event celebrating peace and music will remain a music legend and will be in our hearts for eternity!
Chip Monck announced the next act as "Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young", but the name Young was dropped from the movie and film soundtrack, possibly reflecting the fact that Young skipped most of the acoustic set (only joining in for the seventh and eighth songs) and refused to be filmed during the electric set (felt the film crew was a distraction from the music).
Jimi Hendrix was Woodstock's closing act, and he performed the longest set of the concert. After being introduced as the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Hendrix corrected the new group's name to "'Gypsy Sun and Rainbows', for short it's nothin’ but 'A Band of Gypsies'." Later during the set he re-introduced them as 'Sky Church'.
