With all the economic issues surrounding the United States and its job security – how Rush Limbaugh still has a job is truly baffling. Is he a trust fund kid because it is becoming increasingly harder to believe that someone actually pays him a salary, while honest, hard-working people are barely scraping by.
During Limbaugh’s Wednesday show, the radio talk show host cited an article by the Chicago Tribune that happened to be discussing the new Triple Double Oreo cookie. This particular cookie has three levels, with one layer of chocolate and vanilla icing between each wafer. Of course, side-stepping any talk of the obesity epidemic for the moment — Limbaugh instead noted that the cookie was “biracial.”
The Triple Double Oreo,” he remarked. “You wait, it isn’t going to be long before it’s called the Or-Bam-eo, or something like this. Well, it’s a biracial cookie, here. And this story is from the Chicago Tribune, and it’s all about Kraft’s juicing up its investment in the Oreo in recent years. Legitimate businesses.”
When in all honesty, the story was not 100% from the Tribune but that Limbaugh took enough of the reported story to twist it to fit in his white-dominated fantasy.
It has been no surprise that Limbaugh dislikes President Obama but the tactics he employs to showcase his disgust are questionable at best. With this “Oreo” joke, it is hard to believe that Limbaugh wasn’t fully aware how that word is perceived in the black community – whether he cares, is another story.
