Body, Mind, Spirit Magazine
Many of us today carry extra baggage mentally and physically. During my day I have a messenger bag that I carry with miscellaneous items that may “need.”
This morning after my meditation practice I picked up my bag and noticed it was heavier than usual. I thought “if I meditate to clear my mind perhaps I should clear my bag out too.”
I emptied the bag onto the table finding used cough drop wrappers, receipts, loose bills, 10 pencils, 5 crayons, my note book, my daughters coloring book, two books I am currently reading, and my wallet. I also emptied my wallet of the collected business cards and such and scanned them in my contacts. This little practice is a good way remove the debris that has accumulated. As I looked at the old receipts, business cards and such I thought about where I had been, who I had spoken to and what I had purchased reflecting upon how each transaction or meeting showed the interdependence of our society. So I put forth the challenge that over the weekend clean out your wallet, purse or even your car and see what you find. If you look at the trail you will probably be surprised at how many beings you have interacted with.
