Life Proof Makeup

Life Proof Makeup

I was going to call this post ‘cry proof makeup’ but I couldn’t actually bring myself to do it, although that’s how I did find out how long wearing these little beauties actually are! I’ve been having a bit of a rubbish time lately, I don’t want to dwell on it too much (maybe another time) but let’s just say that there was a fair bit of crying involved. Amidst all the crying, one day I noticed that this particular makeup I was wearing had literally lasted from early morning until late at night, not a crease in sight or bit of mascara misplaced! I was so impressed I just had to share with you all, even after the crying stopped I started wearing it for university as I knew I could rely on it to last all day.

First up I just want to say there was another product I used, the ELF eye primer underneath my eyeshadow. I don’t usually mind photographing makeup that looks used but that really does take the monkeys and there was no way I was photographing it to put on my blog! It’s my favorite eye primer though, better than the Urban Decay primer potion in my opinion, and I think it’s only about £2 which is a super bargain. I wouldn’t wear eyeshadow without it!

Urban Decay are my ultimate number 1 eyeshadows and I don’t think I will ever use anything as much as my Naked palettes from them. I have 2, 3 and this one, the original Basics palette. Full of neutral, everyday colours, it’s a 6 shade palette that will never let you down. Lately my favorite look has been a sweep of Naked 2 right across the lid with faint blended into the outer corner and up through my crease. It’s natural, but still looks like you’ve made an effort, and combined with the ELF eye primer literally doesn’t budge! I’ve never had a problem with Urban Decay shadows creasing and this is why I think they are worth the slightly expensive price tag.

The Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner is a new one I picked up recently, and I decided to opt for the waterproof version to see how the formula compares to non-waterproof. Weird, but I never buy waterproof makeup as I always associate them with being hard to remove, but this Rimmel eyeliner doesn’t have that problem at all. Long lasting, easy to apply, but still easy to take off at the end of the day. I love it! The applicator is nice too as the end is quite firm, allowing for a nice precise line. Last on the eyes is the L’Oreal False Lash Telescopic mascara (I think – all the writing has came off already!). L’Oreal mascaras are a little on the expensive side for a high street brand, but I must say I do like them. The brush on this one in particular is right up my street, a rubber brush with small spikes that really elongated your lashes whilst helping to separate. This isn’t one if you like volume, but for length then it’s a thumbs up. It’s quite flexible too, in that you can wear one coat for a more natural look or really build it up if you’re wanting more!

Now for the one that really impressed me, the Seventeen Stay Pout lipstick in the shade rule breaker. I picked this up purely for the colour, at about £4.50 I wasn’t expecting much in terms of quality, but I loved the dark berry shade as I have nothing else like this in my collection. Oh my word was I surprised when I tried it! Opaque in one go, not drying, and the most long lasting lipstick I’ve ever tried. It’s definitely on par with the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils when it comes to wear time, but a fraction of the price and easier to re-apply. I kid you not this lipstick will last all night, through eating, drinking and lots of talking! I can’t believe it and I am definitely going to pick up a few more shades the next time I’m treating myself. Be warned though, it’s so long lasting it’s actually quite hard to remove and with this dark shade you may be left with slightly stained lips the next day!

What are your favorite long lasting makeup products or tips that I could try out? I love to hear them, even if I am not supposed to be spending any more money right now! Also what do you think of these photos? I’m quite liking the background and I’ve used iPhoto to edit instead of PicMonkey so I’d love to hear your thoughts :) <3
