It's that time of my life where I have to decide what I want to do FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE and I have no clue what I want to do. I get on one career path and then think "well, actually I don't want to do that I want to do this". How can the 16 year old me be responsible enough to choose what I want to do? I can't even commit to an iPhone case, let alone my future.
So this past week, I decided to take the bull by the horns and go to some taster things to help me get a better idea of what I want to do. I went Newcastle University to do this thing called Bitesize Uni where you take part in lectures and stuff to see what Uni life is like.
If you get the chance to go on one of these trips, I really recommend it. You're put into these groups and, if you're lucky like me, your group will bond and become really good friends. I know I've made some friends for life through this programme. Most people went off in their spare time with the people they came with however our group literally did everything together! I also got a really good feel for uni life as well as getting a better idea of what I want to do in life (International business with a module of French and a placement in retail) so it was a good trip!
| The Group 5 family!(minus Josh and Rosie) I apologize for the terrible face I'm pulling; I was mid laugh because James started mooing like a cow
We started with Ice Breakers which were super fun and included one of those inflatable bungee cord chase things which gave me mega whiplash! There were also space hopper races and throwing yourself into a ball pool; all valuable things to know how to do! That night we went to the cinema to see Monsters University and oh my god that film is so good. Seriously, the eleven or so years we all waited for the film was worth it. The second night, we had an eat out on a budget where we were all given £6. Our group opted for Domino's Pizza (we had a 50% discount!) and then get chocolate, ice-cream and drinks from Tesco. Getting 12 teenagers (including our student reps) to decide on what fizzy drinks to buy is not an easy task! We sat outside in a garden bit under a tree and I honestly don't think I've ever laughed as much as that afternoon...my cheeks physically hurt! On our last night, we took a trip to the student union where we had a beach themed night which was super cool until someone had a fit and hour before we left and we had to be evacuated out (he's aright now though) so whilst we waited for the buses, our group started having a little sing song and it was really nice.
On an 'educational note' the lectures were really useful too. I went to business, law and combined honours lectures and actually enjoyed them! I got a great feel for the uni too and might even think about going there.
So that was my week. I've made some great friends and can't wait to meet up with them again, hopefully soon! Group 5 forever!
