Levitation Makeup - Floating Eye Shadow Look

By Neerajnavare
I had done a lovely look called Sheer Translucency an year back and that time I did talk about how amazing these floating eyeshadows look like. Levitation is a magical term where objects fly in the thin air and stay there till the magic is on. Here we are trying to create an illusion like this.

For a long time I have hunted for an eyeshadow which could do this in a better manner and what would be better than Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Golden Mink. I have got one of the most amazing quads and finally I did a look which I always yearned to do since long.

TOM FORD EYESHADOW QUAD IN GOLDEN MINK

The reference of floating eyeshadows comes from the reflection of afternoon sun on rippling river water. This is such a fantastic way to open up the eyes and give them a incredibly beautiful appearance.
So lets see how to achieve this easy peasy look........
Begin with creating a flawless base for which I began with Guerlain Parure Aqua Foundation.

Conceal the under eye area with Clinique All About Eyes concealer and set it with Guerlain Les Violettes Loose Powder.

Comb and tame the brows to get a good framing for the face. Its a quintessential step of any makeup look.

Prime the lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion to secure the eyeshadows and make them look brighter and better.

Apply the golden beige shadow from Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Golden Mink on the entire lid and blend it softly towards the brow bone. Its like an extended soft wash of a color. Also apply some in the inner corners of the eyes to brighten them up.

Define and create a crease with a mid toned bronzy shimmery brown from the Golden Mink quad.

Curl lashes with MAC eye lash curler and apply 2 coats of Guerlain Le 2 De Guerlain Lacque mascara to create beautiful long lashes. I applied a bit too much which is why the lashes look a bit clumpy.

For clumpy lashes, always comb through them with a Real Techniques Lash and Brow Groomer and try to remove the clumps before the mascara dries.

To add definitive sparkly effect just to uplift the eyes, apply the golden yellow sparkle in the inner corners of the eyes and on the brow bone.

These sparkles are truly amazing unlike other brands. They have a fantastic sticky base which is why the sparkles stay on for the entire day without budging. I also have these fantastic coppery splinters in the Cognac sable which are amazing.

To create an all over dimension and create 3 D eyes, apply the peachy sparkles on the center of the lid. Although this effect is visibly conspicuous when one bats their lids, it does look amazing and beautiful. It looks like the eyeshadows are levitating on the eye lid.

What a beautiful iridescence!! When applied on the center of the lid, these eyeshadows give an uplifting effect on the eye lid. Isn't it stunning?? To amplify the effect even more, apply an iridescent sparkly gloss like Guerlain's Gold Tchlack on the center of the lid. This give an illusion of wet sparkly lids which is very very alluring.
Pair this with a neutral face and a bit of bronzer like Guerlain's 4 Seasons Bronzer. Let some sparkles fall on the face for a magical highlighted effect. And opt for a nude lipstick like Guerlain's Rouge G in Galia or a Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick. Let the eyes do the talking.
Hope you loved this look. Its my forte and one of my favorite makeup styles. Do let me know in the comments........
Till then,
Ciao
