Tune in to the Ideas Show on MUR (logo) for Political Talk
Dear Readers,Unfortunately, this summer has been a lot more hectic than last summer. I am taking a break from full-fledged musings until the school year begins anew and I can fully devote myself to being intellectually engaging in my posts. There are several things you can do if you would like to stay updated in the meantime. First, I invite you to read some of the news sources that I have curated in the Newsroom tab; they represent some of the best information providers in today's news media. Second, I will continue to put micro-musings on the web until September; they can be found on Twitter @PoliticsIn01245.
Also, Political Musings from Monterey has been sponsoring another Monterey start-up this summer - Monterey Underground Radio. It's a music and talk internet station that I am running with several friends; the summer season runs through August 18. So far, I have recorded an episode about the debt ceiling negotiations; it is available in the archives of the show's homepage and can be downloaded as a podcast (although I must say, I did not speak as articulately as I write). Other than that single episode, two regularly scheduled programs that may be of interest to you are The Ideas Show and News Bytes.
The former airs every Monday evening from 5 to 5:30 PM Eastern time. It includes interviews and roundtable discussions on public policy, literature, science, and philosophy. Next Monday we will be talking about the federal budget. If you are interested in participating in our on-air discussion via Twitter, please leave a comment on this post and tweet using the hashtag #theideashow.
The latter airs every weekday at 11 AM. News Bytes is a 5-minute rundown of the most pressing news, sports, and weather to help you stay informed and involved. It's a decent way to find out about the world, especially if you're in a pinch for time.
So please, make the most of these recommendations. I hope to begin the nonpartisan dialog that we have had so far again in September. Until then: that's all, folks.
