I think we are all guilty of taking our capital city for granted, tourists flock to London every year to get glimpses of the amazing landmarks, from the London eye to Big Ben, the Tower of London and Buckingham palace..I am originally from Essex and have been brought up in and around the Lonfon area, taking trips with my grandparents a lot, there was always so much to see and do, as a child everything is fascinating but even now I can appreciate the landscape more and take advantage of the amazing array of shops!
Finding somewhere to stay isn't difficult at all, the closer to the center you are the more pricey but well worth it considering you don't need taxis or anything to get places! A great little hotel is St George's Hotel, which is right on Regents Street, just a short walk from the famous Oxford street where it's quite simply, shopping heaven! There is a fab restaurant too which is situated on the 15th floor (don't worry, there are lifts...), with a stunning view of the city, lovely eh!
A must go to place is definitely Camden Market (you probably recognize that name...) it's one of the country's most popular markets boasting distinctive stalls, food and drink, vibrant shops and more, it started off as wooden sheds and cobbled yards, then very quickly attracting the vital group of entrepreneurs and artists which made it such a popular area for locals and tourists! The market doesn't end when the sun goes down, they also have the night market which includes the finest global street foods, cocktail bars, table tennis and even a pop up cinema!
You are inundated with places to eat, from the local chippy to beautiful this restaurants, whatever you fancy, you'll be sure to find it!
Got kids? There is seriously so much to do to keep your little ones entertained, my favorite place was always London Zoo, I've always been a lover of animals, my nan would have her map out and off we'd go on a wild adventure. You can now actually be a zoo keeper for the day, something I would've loved to do, I'll have to make sure we take Abbie to have a go! She's already an animal whisperer!
Another fun one is Madame Tussards, maybe not as enjoyable for the younger kids but great fun for the teens and adults!
Whether you're just wanting to make a day of it or maybe a long weekend, London really is beautiful and has so much to offer, plus we held a pretty kick ass Olympics last year! :)What's your capital city?
