The 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month is a time for us to pay respects to a group of men and women many of us have never, and will never know. But it’s thanks to their courage and sacrifice that we can enjoy the lives we have today. Sadly with every year that passes since the guns fell silent and the bombs stopped falling more and more seem to forget the significance of this day.
96 years ago today World War 1 came to an end a war in which our country, Canada, lost 67,000 soldiers. Since then we’ve been involved in many wars including World War 2 and more recently the missions to Afghanistan. In 2014 we remember two soldiers who lost their lives when the war came to our home and native land, Corporal Nathan Cirillo, 24 and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, 53. We will never forget their sacrifice and thank them for their service to our country!

To honor the lives of those who stood to protect and serve our country try to make it to a Remembrance Day service near you today. If you can’t attend a service please take 2 minutes at 11am to reflect and remember. It’s just a pittance of time.
