Leave Me Alone by New Order.

Today I came across a list of the “Top 10 Most Depressing Rock Songs” on a website called Listverse. #10 was this song…Leave Me Alone by New Order. They only had one hit in the US, Bizarre Love Triangle, and since I knew them from that song, I thought I’d give this track a listen.

Leave Me Alone was released on the album, Power, Corruption, & Lies, in May of 1983. It was New Order’s second release since forming in 1980. The album was successful on the independent music charts, making #1 in the UK. It also went to #3 in New Zealand.

In 1989, it was ranked #94 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest albums of the 1980s citing it as “a landmark album of danceable, post-punk music”. In 2012, Slant Magazine listed the album at #23 on its “Best Albums of the 1980s” saying “Power, Corruption & Lies marks the real beginning of New Order’s career.”

The lyrics describe the feeling of loneliness but at the same time, accepting it as part of their life. Above is the audio and album cover.
