Duolingo is a great free application which is also ad-free. When you download the app, you get the opportunity to register as a new user or log in with your Facebook account. Then you get the option to choose between English, German, Portuguese, Spanish, French or Italian. This app is a perfect way to refresh the knowledge of some forgotten language skills, as well as for learning a basic level of a new language.

Duolingo app represents a fun way to learn new language since it acts as a kind of game – you are required to write a proper sentence, guess an unknown word by choosing the correct picture, etc… Each level contains a certain number of hearts that you lose if you answer incorrectly. When you lose all your hearts, you have to begin the lesson all over again. You unlock the next level once you complete the lesson. You can also get some help if you are uncertain of a particular word -simply tap the word for more explanation. There are some tasks that require the use of headphones or speaker, in case you need to recognize phrases or spoken words.
Duolingo is one of the best applications of this type and it was very good for both, Android and iOS users.
