6.9 Le Cantine du Troquet Daguerre, 89 rue Daguerre in the 14th, 01.43.20.20.09 (but no rez's), closed Saturday lunch and Sundays (Metro: Gaite but better is the 28 bus), is Christian Etchebest's latest. Now disclosure: I love what he does, wherever he does it, he's just got the "right stuff."
So the carte, while it looks daunting, is really not. I started with crispy/crunchy piggie ears on salad, the only complaint of which is I could in no way finished them all - delicious comfort food (two cars outside had 2 inches of snow on them). Then I had a navarin of lamb that was falling off the bone, with artichokes and "forgotten vegetables" And And And bowls of puree, frites and basquaise - the latter worth the price of admission, oh my! I ended, in honor of Colette, with an "iceberg" flottante that was light and fluffy and super with a coffee sauce that sent you on your way to heaven.
My bill, with a half-bottle of Marcillac wine, no bottled water, great-great bread and a coffee, was 47 E. dB level = 83.2
Go? Oh my yes. But go early because the place was turning people away by 13h00.
