Although Canadian sales of the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV fell 3% in 2014 in a booming SUV market, GL sales were still at the second-highest level in the nameplate's history.

Moreover, the GL was still far more popular than other flagship luxury SUVs like the Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX570, Lincoln Navigator, and the family of new Cadillac Escalades.

Escalade volume became much healthier as the year went along, particularly if we exclude the EXT pickup truck from the equation, a vehicle which was available in 2013 but not in 2013. Combined sales of the regular-wheelbase Escalade and the long-wheelbase Escalade ESV rose 41% to 821 units.
