The level of hate for Ms. Del Ray / Grant this past year seemed to reach an almost ludicrous level. So she took a stage name! Didn’t perform too well on SNL! Didn’t release an album that rivaled Abbey Road! She still released three or four seriously solid tracks – a feat any aspiring artist would qualify as a success. “Back to Basics,” an unreleased track that didn’t make it onto her LP, isn’t quite at a “Blue Jeans” level, but it’s alright. The Sound Remedy remix of “Video Games” is worth checking out, too. And – for the record, if she releases two more tracks on the level of her best 2012 work, I’ll tip my hat.
