My Take on Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact:

Before moving on to say how is this product and what has been my experience with it, I want to say one thing and that is this compact fell off the stairs from my hands and broke into pieces

Cry
yeah it broke into pieces before I could even review it. Don’t know why I don’t have the habit of taking pics of a product when it’s new so that it looks fresh and new, I always end up taking pics when I’m fully ready to review the product after using it for a while, maybe that’s why my products looks old and not newly bought and moreover I can’t review a product in just 4-5 days, like I bought it 2 days ago and I’m ready to review it now, no I’m not like this. I need full one to two weeks to test a product be it a lipstick, blush, compact, eye shadow, etc. coz I want to give every detail of the product and experience everything about it in different situation.

Now coming back to this compact, it comes in a shiny black colored pan with an inbuilt mirror and a sponge applicator. It has two separate compartments, one for the powder and the bottom one for storing the sponge applicator. The sponge is quite useful in my opinion and gives even coverage, I mostly use this compact with the sponge as I think it gives the coverage and finish I need though you have to be careful to use it with very light hand or it may end up making the finish of this compact cakey and patchy.

Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Review
The concept of Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact is that it can be used as a foundation when wet and as a compact when dry which is what it comes in (dry form). If you want to use it as a foundation, you can slightly wet the sponge and pat it on the compact and then apply it with light hand or you can use a damp beauty blender or even a damp stippling brush. I think the sponge gives a pretty much good finish when used wet as well as dry. When used wet, the compact gives a pearly finish with somewhat sheer to medium coverage and my dry skin kind of looks good when I use this compact as wet but I still have to make sure that my face is nicely moisturized or it can look patchy and cakey. It has very soft texture which feels like silk if you touch it with your hands.

Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact Review
Said the fact that it can be used in two ways as a foundation and as a compact, I mostly use it as a compact for a last step to set my base makeup and sometimes to touch up if I’m going out on a long event. The compact is sturdy and doesn’t reserve much space so it easily fits in my bag and I like to carry this compact with me when I’m going on a long event where I will need one or two touch ups coz I love the way it instantly brightens and makes my face glow with just one single light swipe.

It gives good coverage, so if your base is of medium coverage it will complement it by making it more than medium and if your base is of sheer coverage, it will make it to medium. This compact instantly brightens my face and so the (look naturally fair) claim is not false and it also contains SPF 17 which is good for protection against sun though I don’t skip my sunscreen if I’m wearing this in morning and it has also got hyaluronic acid which is a great plumping and hydrating agent as I explained in yesterday’s post which you can check Here.

After saying all good things about it, here comes the bad part of this compact, it can make you look patchy and cakey if used with heavy hand like you go on blending it hard with a sponge or a brush, that means you have to use it with very light hand like slightly swiping it over your face with very light strokes. This compact is no way for aging skin or skin that has fine lines, wrinkles, visible pores and acne as it can set in fine lines and make acne more visible by clumping on them and set in pores making them more visible. So your skin has to be flawless, without any problem to use this compact and it looks good only on non problematic skin.

It looks good in photographs but if applied heavily and overly it gives a ghostly look in photographs when using flash so make sure you don’t use it when you’ll be photographed in flash. But in natural photography, it kind of looks good if applied smartly so I don’t mind topping my base with it when I’m photographing in a normal daylight.

I took it once with me while traveling to my maternal grandparent’s place and I usually don’t carry bag with me and walk very casually so I kept it in my coat’s pocket where it easily fitted and I touched up at the last moment before we could reach there and when I reached home, after a few hours my sis was like- what have you used, you are literally glowing, light is reflecting off your face, you are looking so fresh and fair and I was like nothing, it’s my BB cream which I applied before coming here

who wants to tell the secret of your glow. With this mini experience I want to say it makes me look that good and fresh. One or two light touch ups with it would be great for the whole day but at the same time, it can also look patchy, cakey and set in fine lines if used heavily and excessively. Pheww!! too much of blabbering. But I love writing full detailed reviews so that it makes you a wise buyer and leave the decision on you to decide upon a product by mentioning all its good and bad parts. That’s why I love to use a product for a good amount of time so that I can explain it elaborately and my experience with it in detail!

Pros of Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact:

  • Sleek and attractive packaging.
  • Comes with an inbuilt mirror and a sponge applicator which is great for touch ups.
  • Sponge applicator is quite useful and I mostly do touch ups with it.
  • Has a good wear time, it keeps skin looking fresh for up to 5 hours and with touch ups the wear time extends even more.
  • Soft smooth texture.
  • Can be used in two ways- as a foundation and as a compact as I explained above.
  • Contains SPF 17, hyaluronic acid which is a great plumping and hydrating agent and vitamin B3 known for lightening the skin tone.
  • Has pretty good coverage, somewhat medium and as I said if you use it to top your medium coverage base, it will then give full coverage and if you use it to top your sheer coverage base, it will give medium coverage.
  • Makes my face instantly brighter and fair.
  • Looks good in natural photography.
  • Does not break out.
  • Evens out the skin tone.
  • Would be good for oily skin.

Cons of Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact:

  • Pricey!
  • Can give white ghostly caste in flash photography so not a good option to be used when you are going to be photographed in flash.
  • Can enhance pores by setting into them, sets into fine lines and gets clumped on acne.
  • Can look cakey and patchy if over applied or applied heavily, it has to be used smartly with very light hand to get good results, it’s kind of like a high maintenance compact!
  • Not a product for problematic skin as rather covering them, it can enhance them even more.
  • Limited shade selection.
  • 16 hour claim is not true.

BML Rating: 4/5

Despite of all the cons I love, no actually loved

this compact as it now broke into pieces. I’d be rather using the pan for some DIY and the leftover powder for one very interesting diy which I’m sure you all will go gaga on (the DIY coming soon

). I love how it instantly brightens my face and make it appear flawless though a wrong application can make it look patchy and cakey so I apply it very smartly. I loved how my sister complimented me on light reflecting from my face when I was wearing this compact. I loved it and I’m gonna miss it

You will love it if you have oily skin though I don’t know for how long it can control oil but I’m sure you’ll love the finish it gives and if you have dry skin like me you may want to use it with very light hand to get flawless finish and make sure your base is well moisturized, it won’t get patchy and cakey that way!
