La Mangue Verte in the 13th: OK for a New Year's Day When the Whole Western & Eastern World is Closed.

By Johntalbott

5.2 La Mangue Verte, 100 Rue d'Ivry in the 13th is a place we've been by time out of mind and wondered about it.  Well, when every place we'd eaten at previously in the area and all the places there and elsewhere were closed exceptionally this New Year's we said why not?

We started off with two salads; one a Thai beef that while not as good, or containing as good beef or zippy as Colette's, was pretty good and their signature green mango and crevettes one.  we then moved on to 3 grilled gambas, which were to be rolled up in lettuce leaves, mint and assorted veggies as well as sauteed lukewarm rice vermicelli - so-so at best.

For dessert Colette chose the tapioca with bananas that were "excrable" and I sliced pineapple that I rather liked.  With a bottle of Bordeaux, 2 coffees a decibel level of 81.3 dB and no bottled water, our bill was 49.10 E.

Return?  I think not.
